Making of Soho Place: WOOD

Client: Derwent London
Location: Rødding, Denmark.

We travelled to Rødding, Denmark, where we delved into the production process at Dinesen, a world-renowned manufacturer of wooden floorboards. Here, highly skilled artisans transformed rough-hewn European Oak into impeccably finished floorboards. The process involved meticulous attention to grain alignment, an essential detail that contributes to a cohesive aesthetic in the final installation.

These boards, sourced from the best oak in Europe found in the Black Forest, undergo a remarkable transformation. Our exploration offered enlightening insights into the intricate journey each Dinesen floorboard takes, transitioning from a raw piece of oak to an elegant feature of iconic architectural masterpieces that were to be installed at Soho Place in London's West End.
